In-House Counsel – Bank Attorney (Contract-to-Hire)
Location: Manhattan (on-site 5 days per week)
Start Date: ASAP
This is an exceptional opportunity for a junior to mid-level attorney (3–6+ years of experience) to join the New York branch of a prominent international financial institution. The role begins as a 6–12 month contract-to-hire engagement with the strong potential to transition into a full-time, permanent position based on performance.

Key Responsibilities

Manage legal risks across the branch, including maintaining and enhancing the Legal Risk Management Policy.

Monitor, track, and update regulatory developments impacting U.S. banking operations.

Provide timely legal advice and research support to management and business teams.

Handle subpoenas, litigation matters, and regulatory inquiries.

Advise Head Office on U.S. banking law and regulatory requirements.

Collaborate with and manage external counsel as needed.

Draft, review, and negotiate contracts while providing clear legal opinions.

Support ad hoc legal and compliance initiatives as assigned by department leadership.

Licensed to practice law in New York State.

3–6+ years of relevant legal experience, ideally within a law firm, financial institution, or regulatory body.

Strong background in banking regulations, risk management, or regulatory compliance.

Excellent legal research, drafting, and communication skills.

Bilingual Mandarin Chinese highly preferred.

Must be work-authorized in the U.S. (U.S. Citizen, Green Card, etc. – sponsorship not available).

Hands-on exposure to a wide range of banking legal and regulatory matters.
